I Googled myself....
I have heard others say, "Google me." I used to think that's a bit conceded. And now here I am googling myself, how ironic? But it's not to see what a big shot I am, because I am far from it. The reason is to get a little background on my digital footprint. One thing I have never done is put myself out there in the world like that, because I am more of an incognito type of person. I like to play the background. I don't like to be up front and center, and never will be like that because that is not my persona.
A lot of people in this world want to be famous, but not I. I don't think fame & money go hand in hand with one's true passion. There is something about a 'starving artist' that describes the peak of passion one is still present in, thru their hunger, the hunger of what? The hunger of what they don't have maybe? The notoriety, or maybe the money they have yet to obtain, I believe it to be a pain point that holds the most passion of that artist at that time. There seems to be something very creative within that space in time of an artists career, before the success', fame, and money.
As far as my digital footprint there is not much, there is info in regards to my job. It also has my Facebook page that is private. Also, I have a YouTube page but it is not under my name, its under jurnay69. On my YouTube page it has a lot of concert footage as I am a hip hop fanatic and have went to a bunch of concerts and am usually in the front row. I also have hip-hop producers who give me beats so I like to post them, I also have 2 soundcloud page just to store the rare music I find and some of the beats I have collected from my producer friends.

I could use the internet to have design companies view the work I have done, that may interest them in having me doing work for them. If it be designing, or writing, or whatever they may need.
I would like a page that contains all my designs, and any of my creations I have done together in a digital portfolio. It will give prospective employers a chance to see what I can CREATE. The thing I would change is in having everything in one place, and under my name or moniker whatever I choose to use in business, so it is easy to access a home base as it's called.

ReplyDeleteI agree with @Renee Arakaki - I also value my privacy and don't want the world knowing everything I am doing. So I am also trying to embrace all the positives of "social media." I like your idea of having everything in one place and using the same name/moniker so when someone searches that name they'll hopefully see what you are wanting them to see.
ReplyDeleteHi Joslyn,
ReplyDeleteI like your thoughts on what you can do. I hope you will begin to practice using the assignments in this course. Can you be more specific on who you want to see what you create. It will help you target your social media campaign.
I'm asking this question:
Being a good “guest” and being a positive member of an online community can be a huge part of building your online brand. The Golden Rule – treat other people the way you’d like to be treated – is a good start, but how can you look for ways to be helpful and contribute to the online communities that you’re a part of now and in the future?
Thanks,
Greg
