Collaboration

I intend to follow my life purpose as you can tell thru what I create, it radiates thru my love of music, art, poetry, story telling, just being able to create in a creative way or fashion. I have collaborated with others before who have shared the same life purpose as mine. I will do that by having an open line of communication and letting others know what my talents are and how we can incorporate that together in projects.

Creating the creative

All artists & musicians strive to be creative, in the artwork they create and the music that they make. Sometimes it is easier said then done. As writers have writers block, artists, and musicians can get stuck in a space of non creative quality where nothing can be created or they think is worth saving. Its a forever struggle to stay CREATIVE, to be CREATIVE, and to live creatively.

One's life purpose isn't always one thing, one idea, one thought, one determination, but many things, thoughts, and wants. Life is made up of many different situations, and life experience's that give you reason to to think it is you what you want. But trust me, I believe many things make up one's life purpose, family, friends, job, pets, and materialistic things for some. Different facets of life give you purpose for different moments of time in your life. You have to live within that moment, to feel your life purpose at that moment of time.

My life purpose of staying creative, and any aspect of design can help me improve my active listening, reflective, and perception checking skills by being able to actively listen to what is being requested for a design. To reflect what the clients wants in the design, by using my understanding of what the client is trying to convey. And with my perception checking skills by taking what I perceive of the request and not checking for clarification with the client to make sure that is what he/she wants.

For me, its a struggle to be a creative person all the time. I love music, especially instrumentals. I love the sound of the grand piano, and hearing it within hip-hop beats helps me create. Hip-hop instrumentals get the creative juices flowing to allow me to visualize my creation. Also, listening to talks of how to strike the nerve of the creator to stimulate creation inspires me.

My play list is made up of hip-hop instrumentals, talks of being creative and other hip-hop I like to listen to. Enjoy! #ics119

This picture is a board I created for my daughter's school where the parents had to pick different ethnicities and we had to do a project on it. This board details the migration of Puerto Rican's to Hawaii. It shows what a Puerto Rican is, what happened that had brought the Puerto Ricanʻs to Hawaiʻi. I also was able to correlate how Puerto Rican's used Spanglish as a language of resistance instead of speaking English as they were taught in school. And the Hawaiian's used pidgin as a language of resistance, also called ʻōlelo Paʻiai when the missionaries taught them English in school. This board also shows my use of typograhy, by using different font, different sizes, and placement. I used a lot of different pictures to display the colorful culture Puerto Ricanʻs have.

The three photos represent design, and an important element in design, typography. Though it looks as just font, it has to do with a overall foundation of design beneath it all. The placement of font, the size, and different font used is very important in typography. Typography is everywhere we look, on menuʻs , signs, t-shirts, books, next time you look around see how much typography surrounds you. You may be surprised how much you didnʻt realize that its all around you.

Life Purpose

I am a mother, a daughter, a sister, a lover, and a friend. I take pride in my two beautiful kids and I want them to have everything that I never had as a kid.

I do what all creatives do, I write, graphic design, take pics, collect art, all things that encompass creating I do and can do. I create. I also am a great listener, and a deep conversationalist.

I do it for my family, my two keiki's, and those that said I could never do it. Having some of the closest people in my life that told me that I would never amount to anything motivated me. Well here I am in all my glory, succeeding in all that I do and then some. It's about taking negativity and turning it into a positive. When it is cloudy outside do not focus on the gray dreary day, remember that there is a rainbow beyond those gray clouds peeking out. Reminding you to weather the storm, and that sunny skies are soon to come.

People come to me for advice about design, and life. I actively listen and try to understand their issue, and what they need. In design its the same thing I listen to what they overall want out the design what are they trying to represent or present to society and I make it happen.

Those I come across usually leave feeling at ease that they were able to talk their ideas out, that's what assists in the creation process, brainstorming. And as far as listening I try to make people understand their is 2 sides to every story and to not get so caught up in what they really think, because that is always bias. Always take a step back and try to understand the bigger picture of the issue, because sometimes its just one's ego getting in the way of what the person is really trying to convey. As a deep conversationalist I like to connect with people's minds always have, I like stimulating convo that sparks one's intellect.

Passion In Life

"A person can succeed at almost anything for which they have unlimited enthusiasm.”
— Charles M. Schwab,

What's your passion in life? What are you enthusiastic about? Someone told me, "life is creation." I believe that. There have been times I have been too enthusiastic and at other times not enthusiastic enough. But I believe it is all about timing, you meet the right person at the right time. You do things by the timing of your own self-realization, maybe? What is the driving force? The driving force could be understanding that what you may manifest no one else can, so it must be created by you. I guess that means that no one can create something like you do, right?

"You are driven by curiosity and a search for the truth, often preferring to connect with people’s minds than their emotions." This is definitely me I always seek to connect with people's minds, and I am very driven by curiosity and the search for the truth. I agree with the quiz, it gave me a little bit of insight on who I am.

I can use my passion in life to connect with other in this course by being positive, and honest and hearing them out. Reading there stories and feeling the value of others thoughts and experiences. My passion in life has continuously connected me to others on social media. And, by being a huge enthusiast of 90s hip-hop, it has allowed me to have some treasured moments of reality.

The picture above was me making a dream a reality, you see it all started when I was 17 years old and was to starstruck to get Method Man's autograph. I had made my friend go get it, for me. Well I used to stare at his autograph in my white binder, with the High Times cover of him all through class. I heard he was coming to Hawaii in 2007 and I figured I would make him a shirt. With a rare pic of him, I stenciled it and used my boyfriend's heat transfer and put it on a black t-shirt. For the back I put some of my favorite lyrics of his don't forget his autograph at the bottom, I used the one from my high school binder. Yeah I had I still had it.

At the concert I waited for him to walk towards the VIP, and as he walked I held up the tee and rapped, "I breaks it down the bone gristle, ill speaking scud missile Johhny Blazing, nightmares like Wes Craven." He looked at me puzzled. I said, "I conceptualized a shirt for you." He invited me back into the VIP. I went with my friend, as I sat back there he looked at the lyrics, "I asked is it correct?" He said, "Yeah." I said, "when I was 17, I was too starstruck to meet you, here I am 10 years later and I ain't starstruck no more." He looked at me, and smiled. He then took something off his wrist, and handed it to me. I grabbed it and didn't realize it was the green, red, yellow West Indies wristband he was wearing while he performed.

I guess you can say that the wristband symbolizes a circle, a cypher, 10 is cypher and after 10 years my self-realization became an actualization. A realization of self worth, believing your worthy to have all that you can actualize. They say it takes 10 years for a cypher to complete, not that I was counting. Maybe it's just all about timing.
